EILY JACOBS

FILMS
A collection of films I've worked on and examples of my contribution to the projects.

01
"All One" - MT IMAGINE Animation Studio
ROLE(S) - 2D Animation Lead, 2D Animator, Compositor
"An astronaut experiences separation from life and others while pealing through layers of delirium and darkness, only to discover the light in the middle of a never-ending nightmare."
Winner of a Silver Telly Award.

Alongside overseeing an entire scene and teaching/directing five new animators, I assisted in pre-production, 2d animation, and compositing.

02
"Tinkinship" - WrenchRiot Productions
(In Production)
ROLE(S) - Director, Lead Rigging Artist, Project Manager, Pre-Production, 3D Animator, 3D Modeler
"In an attempt to escape a destructive war, a mechanic gets separated from his daughter and left behind. Using his witty ideas and tinkering skills, he must try to find a way to catch up to his kin while keeping his treasures safe."

With the initial pitch of this project, I wanted to create a 3D stylized film mimicking that of DaVinci's inventions and sketches. After much experimentation with shaders and nodes in Maya and render tests, I was able to develop a cross-hatch shader using ramp nodes projection textures. My team and I have been experimenting with the look and finalizing how this shader will work with our current models, animation, lighting, and mood.

Combining this cross-hatch shader with aiToon shaders is our current method. We're currently in the process of configuring render time, blocking our previs, and beginning different portions of animations.
I'm very excited to be able to showcase my rigging skills in this film with the main character's inventions - I've learned so much more than I initially knew while working on this project, and I'm eager to continue to grow my skills to make the film the best it can be.

03
"Distress Signal" - The Sound Machines
ROLE(S) - 3D Rigging Lead, Technical Director, Compositing
"On a search to reunite with his mother, a young whale must avoid the perilous sounds coming from above the ocean."
This film was created to submit to the International Student Media Arts Festival (ISMA) tackling the theme of oceans, rivers, and endangered species. We wanted to bring attention to sound pollution, a different type of pollution than people are aware of, and how it affects marine life.
As the 3D rigging lead on this film, I rigged two whale models and learned/utilized ribbon rigging in Autodesk Maya to bring cleaner deformation around the lips and eyes to our characters. Alongside rigging, I helped assist in technical rendering issues that would come up and assisted in final compositing.
